Double 9 Patch Tutorial

I’ve been promising this for several weeks, and I hope the final result isn’t a letdown…

small9patchI want to start by saying that I have no illusions about the originality of this pattern.  This is a Double 9 Patch, folks, and it has been around forever and a day.  What I want to share with you is the MATH that I did to figure out the yardage and details for this particular version of this quilt.  I’ve made (or helped others make) several of these lately, and since I went to the work to do the math, I thought others might be interested, for a time when they need a simple, but effective quilt.  And for some day in the future when I want to make another one and don’t want to have to RE-figure out the math…

Fiber Arts Festival Wrap-Up

It’s always disappointing when you go to a lot of work and then Mother Nature decides that it’s time for some nasty Iowa weather.   Especially when there was so much neat stuff to see!

I took a bunch of pictures last night before we tore everything down — if you have a few minutes and want to see some cool quilts, knitted items, crochet, and more — take a peek!

Thanks to everyone that brought something for us to display, that helped with the lunch or the ticket taking/white-gloving as well as everyone who did brave the weather to see the show. We’ve got lots of ideas for next year (including maybe trying to find a different (warmer) weekend on which to schedule the event!

Area residents are encouraged to submit entries at the shop — there is no fee to enter, you can bring anything fiber related — quilts, knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, embroidery, etc, etc!

Items you may have shown at previous shows are welcome, and we’ll even welcome antiques!
