Double 9 Patch

Several weeks ago, a young customer came in, interested in taking a quilting class.  She liked the looks of the Double 9 Patch pattern in a book I had in the shop, but wanted to go a different direction in terms of the fabric choices — which required me to do some math for her.  After doing so, I figured I’d better actually make a sample to make sure I had done the math correctly!

The finished quilt is destined to be a Christmas gift, and in a few days, I’m going to post a tutorial that includes all of the yardage and cutting details, as well as some step by steps as I make ANOTHER version of this quilt (yet another Christmas gift…).

The quilting was finished yesterday, the quilt still needs a binding:

I’m not sure why the bottom corner curled like that.  It really does lay flat and square…

The quilting was pretty simple, just continuous curve on all of the 9 patches.

I was going to offer this as a kit, but I have subsequently sold out of the green fabric, and don’t have a suitable substitute right now.

I’d better get sewing, so I can (a) finish the tutorial and (b) finish the 2nd quilt!

Happy Quilting!

Holiday Hours!

Christmas window

It’s hard to believe that the Holiday Season is well underway!

I’ve been a little neglectful of this blog of late, but will be remedying that in a larger way over the next few days and weeks.  To get started, I wanted to post a list of what’s going on in the next few weeks at the shop in terms of our current schedule:

Weekday hours remain the same (10-5 Mon-Sat, plus 10-7 on Thursdays)

We are also open Sunday afternoons from 1-4

This week, everything in the store in Traer is 10% off (excluding machine quilting services…)

As we get to Christmas itself, we’ll be closed December 24th and 25th, but we’ll be open for an Inventory Reduction Sale on the 26th and 27th.  More about that later — we’ll have specials online that weekend, too, as I’d rather sell stuff than have to count it…

We’ll be closed December 28th through January 4th (for inventory and then so I can take a short vacation…), and will be back to regular hours on January 5th.

I’m working on a new free pattern/tutorial, and will be posting more here about quilting/knitting and other crafty related adventures.  Stay tuned!
